Conga Grid

The incumbent. An Excel-like grid that, in Conga’s words, replaces Salesforce lists, related lists and reports — sold per user since it listed on the AppExchange in 2014, as ActionGrid.

Where Conga Grid is strong

What it does well

  • Breadth, built up over twelve years. A reading pane with record detail, Chatter, charts and related lists beside the grid; grid graphs; formula columns; find and replace; batch actions that add tasks, notes, Chatter posts and campaign members; an approval center.
  • Views across objects. Parent fields shown and edited from a child grid, related lists as reading-pane tabs, and cross-object filters — the most consistent praise in ten years of reviews.
  • The paperwork procurement asks for. SOC 2, ISO 27001 and ISO 27701 reports, a data processing agreement and a sub-processor list, from a vendor with about two thousand employees.
  • It is alive and shipping. Package releases in July and September 2026, documentation edited in July 2026, and a listing that is public and self-service installable.

What it is

Conga Grid is a managed package that puts an Excel-like grid over Salesforce data. It started as ActionGrid, listed on the AppExchange in October 2014, and became part of Conga in April 2016. Conga, now owned by Thoma Bravo, sells it alongside its document generation and contract products.

How it is built

The grid runs inside a Visualforce page, with a third-party JavaScript grid library rendering the table — Conga’s own documentation has a topic on “Browsers and Kendo limitations”. Queries and saves stay in your Salesforce org; no record data passes through Conga.

Your configuration is data inside the package: views, conditional formatting, formula columns, custom actions and reading-pane layouts are records on sixteen packaged custom objects, and each grid tab is a generated Visualforce page referenced from your layouts, tabs and buttons. Conga moves configuration between orgs with its own export wizard rather than as Salesforce metadata.

What it publishes about its limits

Conga is the one vendor in the category that publishes hard numbers: 1,000 rows per view, 100 rows per paste and 1,000 rows per standard mass update. Grouping applies to the page of rows on screen. Conga refers accessibility (Section 508) requests to Salesforce rather than publishing a conformance report for Grid, and its technical requirements say the grid is not supported in the Salesforce mobile app.

Price

$18 per user per month, list price, with a ten-user minimum — $2,160 a year before the first user beyond ten. There is a 30-day trial and no free tier.

Common complaints

What we read: The 60 most recent of Conga Grid’s 216 AppExchange reviews and the 10 written reviews on TrustRadius, read on 7 October 2026.

  1. Slow with large lists

Slow to load, slower as filters and columns are added, and saves that take a while on large record sets. The complaint runs from 2018 to 2025, through changes of ownership, and Conga’s own performance guide lists seven causes of a slow grid.

“I wish it was faster!” — Salesforce user, AppExchange, May 2025

Evidence Raised in 8 of the 60 AppExchange reviews and 5 of the 10 TrustRadius reviews, including three of the four from 2025.

  2. The ten-seat minimum, and renewal increases

The most-liked critical review on the listing is about a ten-user minimum the reviewer did not know about when the price was advertised at $18 a user. A 2024 comment reports a $5,000 minimum quoted whatever the number of seats, and a 2025 review an increase of $11 a user over three years. The minimum is now printed on the listing’s Pricing tab.

“the minimum number of users licenses we were required to purchase was 10” — Salesforce consultant, AppExchange, March 2020

  3. A Visualforce interface, and gaps in Lightning

Reviewers call the interface clunky and dated. One wrote in 2020 that the tool is designed for Visualforce pages and tabs and that some of it is not possible in Lightning components. Conga’s own FAQ explains the difference between its Visualforce page and its grid view, and its July 2026 release notes still list a known issue with the Composer Lightning component.

“Visualforce is outdated” — Salesforce administrator, TrustRadius, May 2025

Evidence Raised in 3 of the 60 AppExchange reviews and 1 of the 10 TrustRadius reviews.

  4. Configuration effort, and views that pile up

Reviewers say the payoff takes time spent building grids for users, that configuration is difficult and tabs are hard to follow, and that duplicate, similarly named views accumulate because nothing reports which views are unused.

Evidence Raised in 4 of the 10 TrustRadius reviews and 2 of the 60 AppExchange reviews.

Who it suits

Choose Conga Grid when

  • Ten to twenty power users live in the reading pane and need record detail, Chatter and charts beside the grid.
  • Your team launches Conga Composer or Conga Batch from grid rows: that integration is the product.
  • You need grid graphs, the approval center, or drill up and drill down in one purchase.
  • Procurement needs a vendor’s SOC 2 and ISO reports on file before anything is installed.

FAQ

Conga Grid: questions

How much does Conga Grid cost?

The AppExchange listing publishes a list price of $18 per user per month, with a ten-user minimum, read on 7 October 2026. A listing price is a list price; what a customer pays under contract can differ.

Is Conga Grid built on Lightning Web Components?

No. Conga’s own FAQ says the grid operates through a Visualforce page, and Conga’s documentation names the Kendo UI grid library among its known browser limitations.

How many rows can Conga Grid show?

Conga publishes 1,000 rows per view, 100 rows per paste and 1,000 rows per standard mass update on its Grid Product Data Limits page. Nobody we know of has tested those ceilings; they are Conga’s own figures.

Is Conga Grid the same product as GridBuddy?

No, and the two are often confused. Conga Grid descends from ActionGrid, which Conga acquired in April 2016. GridBuddy descends from AppBuddy, which Validity acquired in 2019.

Nobody should pay per seat to edit a thousand rows.

Compare it on your own data: install it beside the grid you have, and keep both until you are sure.
