What is a display rule?
A display rule is a test and a look in a Rowhouse grid: when a field meets the test, the cell or the whole row changes fill, text color, weight or icon, and the Display Key says what it means.
In Salesforce
Salesforce list views have no conditional formatting. A common workaround is a formula field that uses the IMAGE function to show a colored icon, which then lives on the object for every user and every page.
How Rowhouse handles it
A Rowhouse display rule tests a value, compares two fields of the same record, or evaluates a true/false formula, and applies one of sixteen looks: five fills, three text colors, bold, four icons, up and down arrows, and a data bar. There is no blue fill and no yellow, because Salesforce uses light blue for a selected row and pale yellow for an unsaved edit. The Display Key above the grid lists each rule’s meaning, and screen readers hear it after the value, so color never carries meaning on its own.
An example
A pipeline review with three rules: Overdue, a close date before TODAY, in red text; Big deal, an amount of 250,000 or more, as a green fill; and In negotiation, a purple bar at the row’s left edge. On a whole row a fill shows as that 4-pixel bar, so it never hides a cell’s own color.

Display rule: questions
Which rule wins when two rules match?
Rules apply top to bottom, and for each of fill, text color, weight, icon and data bar the first matching rule wins. So a red fill from one rule and bold from another can both show on one cell.
Why is a cell not colored after I edit it?
An edited cell stays unsaved-yellow until it is saved. The row’s other colors follow the edit at once for value rules; formula rules change only after a save, because they run on the server.
