Conga Grid vs Mashmatrix Sheet

Same entry price, opposite strengths. Conga Grid surrounds the grid with a reading pane, graphs and the Conga suite. Mashmatrix Sheet goes deep on the editing itself: undo and redo, multi-range paste, upsert from Excel and higher published ceilings.

The short answer

Which one, when

  • Power users live in a reading pane, launch Conga Composer from rows, or need grid graphsConga Grid. Mashmatrix shows related records in linked panes, not a reading pane with Chatter and charts.
  • The work is loading and reconciling data: pasting ranges from Excel, upserting by External ID, undoing and redoingMashmatrix Sheet. Conga Grid pastes up to 100 rows at a time and offers Revert Data rather than undo.
  • Lists run to thousands of rowsMashmatrix Sheet. Conga publishes 1,000 rows per view; a Mashmatrix sheet can fetch up to 20,000.
  • You want a large vendor with SOC 2 and ISO reports, and other customers you can findConga Grid: 216 AppExchange reviews and a full procurement pack. Mashmatrix’s listing has two reviews, and most of its record is in Japanese.

Where Conga Grid is stronger

  • Breadth built up over twelve years. The reading pane with record detail, Chatter and charts; grid graphs; find and replace; batch add of tasks, notes and campaign members; the approval center.
  • The Conga suite. Grid launches Conga Composer and Conga Batch from grid rows, for teams that generate documents from lists.
  • A public record. 216 AppExchange reviews at 4.87, so a buyer can find someone who has used it.
  • Procurement paperwork. SOC 2, ISO 27001 and ISO 27701 reports, a DPA and a published sub-processor list.

Where Mashmatrix Sheet is stronger

  • Editing depth. Undo and redo with a per-range Revert Update; paste into several separate ranges at once or tiled across a larger one; lookups resolved from pasted Excel names.
  • Upsert from a spreadsheet. A dedicated mode keyed on a Salesforce ID, an External ID or any field that is unique in practice, positioned as a replacement for Data Loader.
  • Higher published ceilings. A sheet fetches up to 20,000 records, and saves go in batches an admin sets up to 10,000.
  • Placement. The Sheet component runs in Screen Flows, the Utility Bar, Experience Cloud sites and inside a customer’s own Lightning web components.

Breadth against depth

Conga Grid’s strength is what surrounds the grid: a reading pane with record detail, Chatter and charts beside the rows, grid graphs, batch actions, the approval center, and Conga Composer launched from a row. Mashmatrix’s strength is the editing itself, and the gap shows at every step. A Conga paste stops at 100 rows; Mashmatrix pastes into several ranges at once. Conga’s Revert Data throws every unsaved edit away; Mashmatrix undoes and redoes step by step, or reverts one range. Conga’s import is a paste that inserts or updates; Mashmatrix has an upsert mode keyed on the field you choose.

Buying each

Conga Grid installs from its listing with a 30-day trial, at $18 per user per month and at least ten users.

Mashmatrix Sheet offers a 30-day trial with no user limit, then a quote and a signed order form through Mashmatrix or a reseller. Contracts are annual with no refund mid-term, monthly payment needs ten or more licenses, and Professional Edition orgs need a separate package. Its Japanese price page lists the base license at ¥1,500 per user per month.

And a free option

FAQ

Conga Grid vs Mashmatrix Sheet: questions

Do Conga Grid and Mashmatrix Sheet cost the same?

At the entry tier, yes: both list at $18 per user per month, read in October 2026. Conga Grid has a ten-user minimum. Mashmatrix keeps mass approval, mass merge and matrix transformation in its $24 Enterprise tier, and its contracts are annual with no refund mid-term.

Which handles more rows?

Mashmatrix publishes a configurable fetch of up to 20,000 records per sheet, 2,000 by default, shown 200 at a time. Conga publishes 1,000 rows per view, and its grouping covers the page on screen, not the whole list. Neither publishes a benchmark.

How well known is Mashmatrix Sheet outside Japan?

Its English-language record is thin. It has been on the AppExchange since September 2016 and ships three major releases a year, but its listing has two reviews, and its pricing detail, case studies and seminars are in Japanese. Its documentation is in English and Japanese, page for page.

Do both keep data in my org?

Yes. Both are managed packages that read and write inside your Salesforce org. Both have Visualforce in them: Conga Grid runs in a Visualforce page, and Mashmatrix hosts its full application in one, while its Sheet component for Lightning pages is a Lightning Web Component.

Nobody should pay per seat to edit a thousand rows.

Compare it on your own data: install it beside the grid you have, and keep both until you are sure.
