What is field-level security (FLS)?
Field-level security is Salesforce’s per-field access control: for each field, a user’s profile and permission sets decide whether they can read it, edit it, or neither.
In Salesforce
Field-level security is set field by field on profiles and permission sets, as Read and Edit access. Page layouts, list views and reports respect it. Apex code runs in system mode by default and ignores it unless the code enforces it, for example by running its queries and saves in user mode.
How Rowhouse handles it
Rowhouse obeys field-level security everywhere. A column the user cannot read is not shown, exported or sent to the browser, and display rules and formulas that read it are dropped for that user. On a save, every field sent must be an editable column of that grid, and Salesforce then strips any field the user cannot update. A related record’s field needs read access to every lookup on the way and edit access to the field at the end.
Four conditions for an editable cell
A cell is editable only when four things hold: the grid allows inline edit, the column is set as editable, the user may edit the object and the field, and the field can be edited at all — not a formula, roll-up summary, auto-number, system or rich text field. The server checks again on every save, so a change the browser should never have offered is refused.

Field-level security (FLS): questions
What does a user see of a column they cannot read?
Nothing. The column is left out of their grid, their export and what is sent to their browser, and any display rule or formula that reads the field is dropped for them. Other users of the same grid still see it if their own access allows.
Can a Rowhouse permission set give access to a field?
No. None of Rowhouse’s three permission sets grants access to your org’s own records or fields. What a user sees and changes in a grid is what their profile, permission sets and sharing already allow.
Three things you can verify without asking us
Free. Not freemium, not a trial, not a tier.
Install it, assign the permission sets, build your first grid on the Grid Admin tab. Everything else is in the Grid Guide inside the app.
