What is a child table?
A child table is a tab of related records under a row in a Rowhouse grid, such as an account’s contacts, shown as a full grid of its own with search, editing and its own Save bar.
In Salesforce
Salesforce shows the records related to a record in related lists on its record page, one list per relationship, each linked by a lookup or master-detail field. Reaching the related records of many parent records means opening each parent record in turn.
How Rowhouse handles it
In Rowhouse a row opens a panel of tabs, one per child table, each a grid with its own search, columns, sort, editing, display rules, import and Save bar, limited to that row’s related records. Child tables go three levels deep: a grid, its child tables, and theirs. An admin builds the child grid first, then adds it on the Child tables tab, linked by the child object’s lookup or master-detail field.
An example
An accounts grid whose rows open Contacts and Opportunities tabs, both linked by Account. Open a key account, fix a contact’s title in the Contacts tab, save it with that tab’s own Save, close the row and move on to the next account — without opening a record page.

Child table: questions
How deep can child tables go?
Three levels: a grid, its child tables, and theirs. Each level is its own grid, built on the Grid Admin tab.
Who sees a child table’s tab?
Users who can read the child object and the field that links it to the parent. For anyone else the tab is not shown.
Do child tables keep each user’s layout?
No. Each user’s layout is kept for a grid, including which rows are open, but not for the child tables under its rows.
