Conga Grid vs GridBuddy

The two grids with the longest histories on the AppExchange, often confused with each other, and built in opposite ways: Conga Grid inside your org, GridBuddy Connect hosted by its vendor.

The short answer

Which one, when

  • You need one grid across systems — several Salesforce orgs, or Salesforce with Dynamics 365, Zendesk, SAP or ODataGridBuddy Connect. Conga Grid works inside one Salesforce org.
  • You want the grid and its data to stay inside your Salesforce orgConga Grid. GridBuddy Connect is served from the vendor’s site and reaches Salesforce over an API connection.
  • You need a reading pane, grid graphs and Conga Composer from grid rowsConga Grid.
  • You need to model the price before talking to salesConga Grid publishes $18 per user per month. GridBuddy Connect’s listing, which showed $27.50, can no longer be read, and Validity’s website no longer has a GridBuddy page.

Where Conga Grid is stronger

  • Runs inside your org. Queries and saves stay in Salesforce; no vendor service sits between the grid and your data.
  • A published price and published limits. $18 per user per month, and 1,000 rows per view and 100 rows per paste, in writing.
  • The reading pane, graphs and Composer integration that GridBuddy does not offer.

Where GridBuddy is stronger

  • Reach. One grid spanning several Salesforce orgs, Dynamics 365, Zendesk, SAP and OData — a problem Conga Grid does not try to solve.
  • Fifteen years of grid depth. Tabbed workspaces, ready-made grids, user-defined grids, cross-object filters and conditional formatting that reaches child records.
  • An installed base that likes it. A 4.88 lifetime average from 247 reviews on the original AppExchange listing.

Where Conga Grid keeps your grids

Grid configuration (Conga Grid View and 15 other packaged custom objects, plus generated Visualforce pages).

Where GridBuddy keeps your grids

Grid configuration.

Two architectures

Conga Grid is a managed package that runs a JavaScript grid inside a Visualforce page in your org. Your data and your configuration stay in Salesforce, though the configuration is stored as records in Conga’s own objects rather than as metadata.

GridBuddy Connect is a web application at gridbuddyconnect.com, embedded back into Salesforce through a frame and connected over OAuth. That is what lets it join Salesforce with other systems — and it is also why your grid definitions live in the vendor’s account rather than in your org. The original in-org GridBuddy package is still installable and still patched.

Price

Conga Grid lists at $18 per user per month with a ten-user minimum. GridBuddy Connect listed at $27.50 per user per month when its listing was last readable, on 6 October 2026; the same listing priced the Salesforce connector alone at $2.75 and referred the required GridBuddy Connect Platform to Validity’s website, which no longer has a GridBuddy page. The original GridBuddy package lists at $24.

And a free option

Rowhouse is a free, open-source grid for Salesforce, with its configuration kept as metadata in your org. See how it compares with both →

Checked 2026-10-07; due for a re-check by 2027-04-07. Both columns are the vendors’ own published claims; nothing was installed or tested. Something wrong? Tell us and we will correct it.

FAQ

Conga Grid vs GridBuddy: questions

Are Conga Grid and GridBuddy the same product?

No. Conga Grid descends from ActionGrid, which Conga acquired in April 2016. GridBuddy descends from AppBuddy, which Validity acquired in 2019. The names are close and the confusion is common.

Is GridBuddy still available?

Validity still sells and supports it, and ships maintenance releases. As of 7 October 2026 both of its AppExchange listings were private, and the GridBuddy Connect listing returned the error code SECURITY_REVIEW_REQUIRED instead of rendering. Validity has not said what that code means for buyers.

Where is my configuration kept in each?

Conga Grid keeps it as records in its own packaged objects inside your org, plus generated Visualforce pages. GridBuddy Connect keeps grids, workspaces and actions in your account on the vendor’s platform.

Nobody should pay per seat to edit a thousand rows.

Compare it on your own data: install it beside the grid you have, and keep both until you are sure.
