Free grid apps for Salesforce

Free is well populated. What is thin is anyone standing behind it: most of these apps are read-only or nearly so, with small row ceilings, and Salesforce says in writing that its Labs apps are not supported by ticket. Smart Lists is the exception.

Where they are strong

What they do well

  • Inside your org, on Salesforce’s own building blocks. All five keep record data in Salesforce with no vendor service in the path. Smart Lists extends Salesforce’s lightning-datatable, and Kcloud Mass Action runs as Salesforce screen flows.
  • Smart Lists is actively maintained. Ten releases in the first nine months of 2026, the latest on 21 September, shipped as a managed package with an upgrade path. It inline-edits every data type, works inside Flow screens, and runs on Experience Cloud pages, guest users included.
  • Simpli List Views goes well past a list view. Multi-column sort, footer totals, row and cell highlighting, lookup columns five levels deep, Edit All for up to 100 rows, and Apex and Flow actions, from a developer who answers his own GitHub issues.
  • Kcloud Mass Action has the largest review base of the five. 144 AppExchange reviews averaging 4.65, for free mass edit, mass update, mass delete and lead merging, launched from a list-view button.

Who stands behind each one

Three of the five come from Salesforce Labs, an employee incubator program rather than a Salesforce product team: Enhanced Lightning Grid (listed November 2016), CMTD Enhanced Related List (August 2018) and Smart Lists (May 2022). Salesforce states that Labs solutions aren’t officially supported, can’t be the subject of a Help & Support ticket, and “don’t undergo regular maintenance”. Help comes from Trailblazer Community groups, and that community becomes read-only on 30 October 2026.

Simpli List Views is the project of Ansley LLC, a one-person company in Wisconsin. Its source is public under GPL-3.0, though what you install is a managed package you cannot modify. A separate listing, Simpli List Views (Enterprise), costs $15 per user per month and lists customer support among its additions. Kcloud Mass Action comes from Kcloud Technologies, a San Diego Salesforce consultancy and ISV partner; it publishes no source, and its product page’s call to action is a consulting contact form.

Smart Lists is the exception

Smart Lists is a Lightning Web Component that extends Salesforce’s own lightning-datatable. It edits every data type in place, including lists that mix record types, and adds filters, SOSL search, CSV export, per-cell styling driven by formula fields, and row and list actions that run your flows. Lists are configured in Custom Metadata, documented in a 70-page guide. It ships as a second-generation managed package, so it upgrades like any managed package, and its last release, 5.2.5, is dated 21 September 2026.

Its limits are the base component’s and its maintainer’s. There is no paste, no undo, no grouping and no multi-column sort, and the component declares only the desktop form factor. Its guide says New and Edit are not supported for Tasks, Events and Person Accounts. Every release is committed by one named Salesforce employee, and the repository carries no license file.

What the others can and cannot do

Enhanced Lightning Grid is an Aura component that replaces a related list with a sortable, filterable, server-paged table — read-only, with per-column filters of about twenty operators and page sizes up to 100. Its last release, 3.47.0, is dated 11 January 2023, and its repository’s last commit 4 December 2023. CMTD Enhanced Related List is also Aura and read-only: its columns are Custom Metadata records, its filter and sort are typed into the component’s settings, any column can be the record link, and reference fields resolve three levels deep. It publishes a cap of 500 records, with 50 recommended, and no paging. Its last release, 4.2.0, is dated 12 January 2024, and no source is published.

Simpli List Views edits in place, puts up to 100 rows into editing at once, and builds lists from SOQL or the Tooling API, which is how it covers Tasks, Events and Campaign Members. Its last release, 2.349.0, is dated 13 March 2025; repository commits through 18 December 2025 have not been released. An issue open since July 2022 reports that field-level security is not applied to SOQL-defined lists. Kcloud Mass Action is not a grid you place on a page: it adds list-view and related-list buttons that open mass edit, mass update, mass delete and merge screens. Each edit takes up to 15 fields, and its guide says merging works for leads only. Its last release, 1.64.0, is dated 23 September 2024.

What free costs

All five list a price of free. The cost is configuration and upkeep: configuration records for every column of every list in the three Labs apps, a hand-built URL button for each object beyond the one Kcloud sets up, and an admin who keeps each one working across three Salesforce releases a year, with no support ticket to open for the three Labs apps.

Common complaints

What we read: Reviews on each app’s AppExchange listing and, where it has one, its GitHub issue tracker, read on 7 October 2026.

  1. Smart Lists

    Not usable on a phone

The component declares only the desktop form factor, and reviewers report it is not mobile friendly in Experience Cloud or in the Salesforce mobile app.

“the single record related list component is mobile friendly, this is not” — Experience Cloud admin, AppExchange, October 2024

    Evidence 3 reviews, 2024 and 2025.

    AppExchange reviews

  2. Smart Lists

    A lot of configuration

Each list is a definition record plus a record for every column, filter and action, in Custom Metadata, and reviewers find the setup tedious and the documentation incomplete.

“the setup with custom metadata records is a little tedious” — Salesforce admin, AppExchange, August 2022

Evidence About 7 of 56 reviews.

    AppExchange reviews

  3. Enhanced Lightning Grid

No way to open the record

It links lookup and Name fields only, so a task’s Subject or a case number is plain text and a row cannot be opened from the grid. Two reviewers stopped their evaluation over it.

Evidence 5 reviews from 2017 to 2024, and an open GitHub issue.

  4. Enhanced Lightning Grid

    Read-only

It cannot edit records, and reviewers asked for editing from 2018 to 2024.

“if I could multi select to edit some basic information” — Salesforce admin, AppExchange, March 2019

    Evidence At least 6 reviews.

    AppExchange reviews

  5. Enhanced Lightning Grid

    Salesforce releases break it

Reviews and GitHub issues record breakage after Salesforce releases, from Winter ’19 to an upgrade in August 2025, and Salesforce says its Labs apps do not get regular maintenance.

Evidence 7 separate breakages, most with an open GitHub issue.

  6. CMTD Enhanced Related List

    Cannot edit a cell

Its Edit menu item opens Salesforce’s standard record screen; nothing edits a value in the list itself, and in-line editing is the first thing recent reviewers ask for.

“needs some additional - in-line editing - ad-hoc sorting and filtering” — Salesforce admin, AppExchange, November 2024

Evidence Its own attribute reference, and reviews.

  7. CMTD Enhanced Related List

500 records at most, 50 recommended

Its guide sets a limit of 500 records and recommends 50, with no paging, so that is the whole list. A reviewer with more than 50 related quotes saw one and could not tell why.

Evidence Published in its own guide.

  8. Simpli List Views

    Documentation is nine videos

The listing’s Resources tab holds nine YouTube videos and nothing else; reviewers find them hard to hear and hard to navigate. A full settings reference exists on GitHub but is not linked from the listing.

“The video names are unclear as to their content or sequencing” — Salesforce admin, AppExchange, December 2022

Evidence 3 of its 14 reviews.

  9. Simpli List Views

    Hard first steps

Two 2025 reviewers got stuck at the start: list views that did not appear after a refresh, and example pages that showed errors.

Evidence 2 of its 14 reviews, both from 2025.

    AppExchange reviews

  10. Kcloud Mass Action

Merge Duplicates works on one object

The listing advertises Merge Duplicates; one of its guides says it works only on Leads and the other puts the button on Contacts, and two reviewers lost time expecting it to work on other objects.

Evidence 2 one-star reviews and its two guides.

  11. Kcloud Mass Action

Limits the listing does not mention

Fifteen fields per mass edit or update, published only in a PDF guide; no sort in the editing screen; and activities out of scope.

“Works only on list views, does not work to mass edit/update activities” — Salesforce admin, AppExchange, September 2024

Evidence Its guide, and separate dated reviews.

Who it suits

Choose one of these when

  • You need a list on an Experience Cloud page for external users, a Files list, or a record picker inside a screen flow: Smart Lists does all three.
  • You want every list view for every object on one page, or mass inline edit of up to 100 rows: Simpli List Views.
  • You need occasional bulk edits of up to 15 fields from a list-view button, or to merge duplicate leads: Kcloud Mass Action.
  • You need a filtered, read-only related list: Enhanced Lightning Grid’s per-column filters, or CMTD Enhanced Related List with any column as the record link.

FAQ

Free grid apps: questions

Are Salesforce Labs apps supported by Salesforce?

Not by ticket. Salesforce’s own Trailhead module says Labs solutions aren’t officially supported, that you can’t log a Help & Support ticket for them, and that they “don’t undergo regular maintenance”; questions go to the Trailblazer Community, which becomes read-only on 30 October 2026.

Which free apps can edit a value in place?

Smart Lists, Simpli List Views and Kcloud Mass Action. Enhanced Lightning Grid and CMTD Enhanced Related List are read-only lists: neither has an editable cell, and records change only through separate create, edit or delete actions.

Is Smart Lists open source?

Its source is public on GitHub, but the repository has no LICENSE file. Salesforce’s Trailhead material says Labs code on GitHub falls under BSD-3-Clause; that grant does not appear in the Smart Lists repository itself.

How many rows can the free apps show?

CMTD Enhanced Related List publishes a limit of 500 records with 50 recommended, and Enhanced Lightning Grid’s page sizes stop at 100. Simpli List Views says Salesforce starts to time out above 2,500. Smart Lists and Kcloud Mass Action publish no row limit; Smart Lists builds on lightning-datatable, for which Salesforce’s guidance is 1,000 rows by five columns.

Nobody should pay per seat to edit a thousand rows.

Compare it on your own data: install it beside the grid you have, and keep both until you are sure.
