Conga Grid vs Grid Mate

Grid Mate sells itself as the move off Conga Grid: $3 less per user per month, no seat minimum, and a suite of components around the grid. Conga Grid brings twelve years of breadth and a large vendor’s paperwork.

The short answer

Which one, when

  • Your power users need a reading pane, grid graphs, or Conga Composer launched from grid rowsConga Grid. That breadth, and the link to the rest of the Conga suite, is what it does best.
  • You want kanban boards, calendars, Gantt charts or maps in the same subscriptionGrid Mate. Its price covers 32 marketed components with no add-ons.
  • Procurement needs a vendor’s SOC 2 and ISO reports on file before anything is installedConga Grid. Conga publishes SOC 2, ISO 27001 and ISO 27701 reports, a DPA and a sub-processor list.
  • Your team has fewer than ten people, or you want to pay monthlyGrid Mate. Conga Grid has a ten-user minimum; Grid Mate publishes no minimum, at the same rate monthly or annually.

Where Conga Grid is stronger

  • Breadth built up over twelve years. The reading pane with record detail, Chatter and charts; grid graphs; find and replace; batch add of tasks, notes and campaign members; the approval center.
  • The Conga suite. Grid launches Conga Composer and Conga Batch from grid rows, for teams that generate documents from lists.
  • Feature security in detail. About sixty features enabled, disabled or inherited from Salesforce, per profile and per user.
  • Procurement paperwork. SOC 2, ISO 27001 and ISO 27701 reports, an MSA, a DPA and a published sub-processor list.

Where Grid Mate is stronger

  • A suite at one price. Grids, kanban boards, calendars, Gantt charts, maps, a pivot grid and a file explorer, with no tiers and no add-ons.
  • A lower price with no floor. $15 per user per month, the same billed monthly or annually, with no published minimum and 50% off up to ten licenses for nonprofits.
  • Flow screens and phones. Dedicated grid components for Flow screens, and a Mobile Grid for phones shipped in August 2026. Conga documents neither, and its technical requirements say Conga Grid is not supported on Salesforce mobile.

Where Conga Grid keeps your grids

Grid configuration (Conga Grid View and 15 other packaged custom objects, plus generated Visualforce pages).

Where Grid Mate keeps your grids

Grid configuration (31 packaged custom objects, custom metadata, custom settings and JSON component properties, all in the subscriber org).

The challenger’s pitch

Grid Mate runs a comparison page aimed squarely at Conga customers, and its argument is mostly arithmetic. At list, $3 a user a month is $36 a user a year. The bigger gap is the floor: Conga Grid sells at least ten seats, so a team of four pays for ten, while Grid Mate publishes no minimum. On top of the price it offers a suite of calendars, kanban, Gantt and maps.

Conga Grid’s answer is breadth around the grid: the reading pane, grid graphs, the approval center, Conga Composer from grid rows, and procurement paperwork from a large vendor.

What each leaves out

Conga Grid runs in a Visualforce page and publishes its own ceilings: 1,000 rows per view and 100 rows per paste, with grouping that covers the page on screen. It offers Revert Data, which discards every unsaved edit at once, rather than an undo history.

Grid Mate documents no undo of cell edits, and its related-list grids stop at 100 rows unless an admin raises the limit. Much of its configuration is JSON in page properties, quick actions need a separate unmanaged package, and each new user needs a package license and a permission set assigned by hand. Conga publishes a keyboard shortcut list; Grid Mate publishes no keyboard documentation. Neither publishes an accessibility conformance report.

FAQ

Conga Grid vs Grid Mate: questions

Is Grid Mate a replacement for Conga Grid?

Grid Mate markets itself as one, with a comparison page aimed at Conga Grid, and its published testimonials include customers moving from Conga. It covers the grid and adds a suite around it. Teams that rely on the reading pane, or launch Conga Composer from grid rows, should check those before they switch.

Do both keep data in my org?

Yes. Both are managed packages that query and save inside your Salesforce org. Conga Grid runs in a Visualforce page. Grid Mate’s core grids are Aura components, and its newer components are Lightning Web Components.

How many rows does each show?

Conga publishes 1,000 rows per view and 100 rows per paste. Grid Mate’s related-list, list-view and field-set grids have a required Row Limit whose documented default is 100 rows, which an admin can raise; no maximum is published. Neither vendor publishes a benchmark.

Is Conga Grid still being developed?

Yes. Conga shipped package releases in July and September 2026, and its listing is public and installs without a sales call. Grid Mate shipped v12.32.0 on 25 August 2026 and has published dated release notes since May 2020.

Nobody should pay per seat to edit a thousand rows.

Compare it on your own data: install it beside the grid you have, and keep both until you are sure.
